For Mexican-inspired southwestern comfort food, look no further. Start with a starter of posole, chile verde or menudo, all filled with hearty meats, fresh veggies and spiced to perfection. Classic Mexican standards are done right here, from chile rellenos to burritos and enchiladas. Little touches like tri-color chips, creamy jalapeno sauce and blue corn tortillas help to keep this place a step a ahead of the competition. The punch-packin' margaritas don't hurt either. For dessert, go for flan or the slightly more oddball fruit-filled chimichangas.

They offer four different mussel preparations, including saffron and cream and skillet roasted. Enticing as all that is, the real draw here is the steak. Choose from five luxurious recipes, all served with Rick & Kellys. As if that were not enough, the menu is rounded out by roast chicken, veal and lamp chops, burgers and a number of seafood options. See website for full menu and more.

This freezer-isle ice cream, which had humble beginnings in the 1920s, has been sold in franchised shops since 1976. Small and neat, the unassuming shops are devoid of splashy colors or cartoon characters. Ice cream names are straightforward--Green Tea, Dulce de Leche, Bailey's Irish Cream--but the flavors are sophisticated. The Belgian Chocolate is dark and speckled with bittersweet flecks. There are also thick, creamy shakes and malts. Some locations sell ice cream cakes made with Haagen-Dazs ice cream and creamy frosting. These cakes must be picked up in-store.
